Xinyi Solar technological achievements won the second prize of National Science and Technological Progress Award 2011
Recently, the results of 2011 annual national science and technology awards results were announced that the "Complete technology and industrial development of low-iron & high-transmittance glass for solar cells" achievements completed jointly by Xinyi PV Products (Anhui) Holdings Ltd., Bengbu Glass Industry Design Institute and China Triumph International Engineering Group Limited won the second prize of National Science and Technological Progress Award, 2011.
Low-iron and high-transmittance glass (panel, also called "PV glass" or "ultra-clear PV glass") is a kind of irreplaceable key material in crystalline silicon solar modules, which poses high requirement on such key technical indexes as solar energy transmittance that guarantee normal operation of cells. In the past, this technology has long been monopolized by foreign companies, and China's PV glass was fully dependent on imports before 2005. Targeting China's gap in PV glass products and manufacturing technology, Xinyi PV Products (Anhui) Holdings Ltd., Bengbu Glass Industry Design Institute and China Triumph International Engineering Group Limited together took full advantages of scientific research and development, integrated innovation and engineering, industrialization, overcome the problems in research and applications of key technologies, especially surmounted three technical barriers. The technological achievements will be of great significant in promoting and driving China’s use of solar energy and enhancing international position of the solar energy industry.
